01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F or set a large skillet over medium-low heat.
02 - Keep the Hawaiian rolls intact and slice horizontally to create a top and bottom slab.
03 - Arrange the bottom half on a cutting board. Layer cheddar and, if desired, Swiss evenly over the bread. Replace the top portion.
04 - Spread softened butter evenly across the exterior top and bottom of the assembled rolls.
05 - For stovetop: Grill the assembled slab for 3–4 minutes per side, gently pressing, until golden and cheese is fully melted. For oven: Bake buttered rolls in a baking dish for 10–12 minutes until golden and gooey.
06 - Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then separate into 12 mini sandwiches. Optionally, brush with Dijon mustard and garnish with chives or parsley before serving.
