Cranberry and Orange Tiramisu (Printable)

Festive Italian dessert combining tart cranberries, zesty orange, and creamy mascarpone in elegant layers.

# What You'll Need:

→ Cranberry Compote

01 - 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
02 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
03 - 1/2 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed
04 - 1 tsp orange zest

→ Mascarpone Cream

05 - 1 cup heavy cream, cold
06 - 1/2 cup powdered sugar
07 - 8 oz mascarpone cheese, chilled
08 - 1 tsp vanilla extract

→ Assembly

09 - 24 ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
10 - 1/2 cup orange juice
11 - 2 tbsp orange liqueur (optional)
12 - Orange zest, for garnish
13 - Fresh cranberries, for garnish
14 - Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Combine cranberries, granulated sugar, orange juice, and orange zest in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cook until cranberries burst and mixture thickens, approximately 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
02 - Whip cold heavy cream with powdered sugar in a large bowl until soft peaks form. In a separate bowl, beat mascarpone cheese with vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold whipped cream into mascarpone mixture until fully combined and uniform.
03 - Combine orange juice and orange liqueur in a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the mixture without soaking, then arrange half of the biscuits in a single layer at the bottom of a 9x9-inch dish. Spread half the mascarpone cream evenly over ladyfingers, followed by half the cranberry compote. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
04 - Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for best results. Before serving, garnish with fresh orange zest, whole cranberries, and a light dusting of powdered sugar if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The tart cranberry cuts through the rich cream like sunshine breaking through clouds
  • It looks spectacular on a holiday table but comes together faster than you would believe
  • Make it ahead and let the fridge do all the work while you handle everything else
02 -
  • Dipping ladyfingers too long turns this into a soggy mess instead of elegant dessert
  • Room temperature mascarpone separates into grainy curds when whipped, so keep it slightly chilled
  • This tastes significantly better after overnight chilling when the flavors have time to become friends
03 -
  • Use a glass dish so you can see those beautiful red layers through the sides
  • The compote can be made three days ahead and kept refrigerated until you are ready to assemble
